This is an intensive four-day program that provides union advocates with the skills and confidence they need to represent members in grievance arbitration cases. It is designed for union staff and officers who are responsible for preparing and presenting arbitration cases. Topics covered include investigating the grievance, preparing witnesses, developing your theory of the case and presenting your case before an arbitrator.
All participants in the Institute will serve as team members in the preparation and presentation of a mock case before a practicing arbitrator. Because of the hands-on nature of this class, attendance is limited to 20 students who will be expected to engage in small group and evening work as part of their participation in the program.
