The Labor Education and Research Center was established in 1977 by the Oregon Legislature to provide training for workers and union leaders across the state and to produce policy-relevant research for Oregon lawmakers and state agencies.

By integrating education, research, and technical assistance, the University of Oregon Labor Center provides workers, unions, and other labor rights organizations with the skills and information they need to participate meaningfully in their workplaces and communities. In collaboration with other UO departments, we provide elected leaders and government agencies with actionable, data-driven research to inform public policy.

Drawing on our deep knowledge of labor and employment dynamics, together with our longstanding partnerships with unions and other worker advocacy organizations, we also provide technical assistance to a variety of state agencies, including the Bureau of Labor and Industries and the Employment Relations Board.

The Labor Center has offices in in Eugene and Portland, and our faculty have extensive expertise in economics, sociology, political science, history, public policy, and adult education. We offer a wide range of non-credit workshops and customized trainings for workers, unions, and other labor rights advocates. We also offer for-credit internship opportunities to University of Oregon students and teach cross-listed courses in several UO departments.

We welcome your support and encourage you to make a tax-deductible contribution to one of our two University of Oregon Foundation Funds.
