April Sims was elected Secretary-Treasurer of the Washington State Labor Council, AFL-CIO in 2018. She is the first woman of color to be elected and the first Black person elected as a WSLC executive officer. One of the labor movement dynamic labor leaders, she is promoting an intergenerational voice, centering on intersectionality as a core lens for the future of the labor movement.
